Against Louie's Eldar 1

First time my wolves faced an Eldar force. 1500 points. Dawn of War. Purge the Alien. It was challenging as I did not know most of the units I'd be facing.

Thoughts on the game:

- Harlequins are tough when in cover. Need a flamer to kill them. Never go into close combat.

- Wolfguard in Terminator Armour can really tank for a Grey Hunter Squad. Needs Storm Shield though. Expensive

- Avatars are not so scary. Can be taken down easily with high powered weapons that are not meltas.

- Eldrad is annoying. Shuts down your psykers and almost never fails psychic tests.

- Dark Reapers are the scary ones. Must watch out for them.

- location location location. My rhino blew up sealing the exit point for the predator. Predator sat useless most of the time. :/

- Vindicator survived a melta shot and close combat assault from an Avatar before it was taken down by Longfangs :))

The battlefield. Dawn of War. Purge the Alien. Fortifications imply where I set up. First turn goes to Eldar.

Eldar Deployment.

Space Wolves Deployment. Never put a Rhino into that kind of space ever again!

First blood by Eldar.

Cavalry Arrives! Wipes out a good amount of Eldar units.

Cat (Harlequins) is out of the bag (Wave Serpent)

Harlequins are way better at close combat than Space Wolves. Was affected by Doom at the same time.

Vindicator survives a melta shot and close combat assault.

Space Wolves (6pts)
- linebreaker
- killed a Dire Avenger Unit
- killed an Avatar
- killed a Wave Serpent
- killed a Guardian Squad
- made another Guardian Squad fall back off the board

Eldar (6pts)
- first blood
- slay the warlord
- killed a Grey Hunter Squad
- killed another Grey Hunter Squad
- Destroyed a Rhino
- killed Wolf Priest (Independent Character)

Verdict: TIE

Next time, I'm bringing a Dreadnought!

Keep Calm!

Oh yeah!

WIP: Bran Redmaw 2

Bran Redmaw! Looks almost the same except for the runes in the armor. Would paint it instead I guess

Cape repaired. Thanks for your comment Machi!

Spray painted the figure black afterwards, my first time using a black spray paint. :)

Tyranid Paint Scheme

So to help my brother move his tyranid progress forward, we decided to talk about a paint scheme. He told me wanted a paint scheme that

1) makes your head hurt or vomit at the sight of it
2) is like a poison dart frog

We tried several paint schemes and thanks to this website http://thetyranidhive.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=painting&action=display&thread=21344 we were able to paint a termagant virtually. You need to sign up for this though :) So we had like 3 schemes but then decided to go with this one. So what do you think? (Pics are arranged by order of completion)

Edit - whoops! forgot about the eyes! though they would be yellow ;)

New Faces Version 2

Thanks to machidiel (Paolo Garces) and chopsuey (sorry, don't know your real name yet) for the comments on another forum. Some of these figures had bigger eyes making them look "anime-ish", in the words of my friend paolo and they were right. I already knew that something was wrong with the faces the first time. It kept bugging me but I still posted it.

Anyway, I've decided to cheat on this one and used a Gundam Panel Line Marker instead and the effect was better than expected :)

Looking back at some of the models i did almost a year ago, it was a miracle that I was able to create eye similar to these using only a plastic toothpick.

New Faces

New painted faces! I know they are far from perfect (and don't get me started on the highlights and shading because I know ^^) but I honestly think they're better than the previous ones I've painted before. I guess I owe it to 3 things:

1) tutorials on the net - some of the figures might look cartoony. It's because I was trying out the technique of this one guy but then it didn't work for me so I had to wing it.

2) My new 0-pointed synthetic brush from deovir. - Hopefully with this brush I can now clean the small crevices and details.

3) Practice :)

WIP: Bran Redmaw

You might have noticed that I have gone fur-crazy and for good reason! This here is a WIP Bran Redmaw. I'm trying to create one as FW decided not to release the model for some reason but the rules for this beast is still out there on Imperial Armour Volume 11: Doom of Mymeara X. Bran here will be full of fur and will be hairy (not yet shown as this is still incomplete) and there are still a lot of gaps to fill in.

On a side note, haven't painted the terminator yet as predicted :/

Now the problem is getting his beast counterpart. I already have a lot of options but all of those options would be hard and would take a lot of time and money.. sigh..

Cooking: Parmesan Crusted Chicken Fillet

Cooked this for the second time from memory but I think I did something wrong (should have pan fried it first before baking it). Either way, the taste improved - the breading really tasted like Parmesan but not enough to be "nakakaumay" and the inside was cooked well without pink. The sauce was also better now and tasted more of salsa which was an improvement. More Mozzarella were added too! Also, it wasn't burned. ^^ Need to work on presentation though (don't have the right tools).

For the breading: Parmesan, bread crumbs, flour, salt and pepper to taste

Sauce: Garlic, onion, red bell pepper, tomato sauce, tomato paste

"Cause a good Wolf Lord knows how to cook too."

First Time With Greenstuff and Sculpting

So here is me trying out my hand at some sculpting due to boredom. Please note that this is my first time using green stuff and sculpting anything in my life. Sadly enough, I cut more that what I was able to use. The extra went to the freezer as suggested by the instructions. The test model I used was an AOBR terminator and I decided to give him the wolf-treatment by giving him a wolf pelt (as it was also the easiest thing to sculpt IMO). I was going for a windy / blizzard effect, hence the sway of the pelt towards one side. I also tried my best to put some layers in but it either doesn't show well in the pictures or I should have made the stuff thicker (?). We'll see when it is painted. Now to wait for 24 hours or laziness to wear off on me. ^^

Yes. See that gaping hole? I meant to do that. You'll see when I have painted it.

The tools I used. Of course I also used water.
